From Pro Athlete to Executive Leader

LESSONS FROM THE FIELD

I started on the soccer field. Over a decade competing at the national team level taught me what textbooks could not: how pressure works from the inside, how identity gets tangled with performance, and what it takes to come back after a setback. Those years shaped the foundation for everything I do now.

Why Mental Health Matters to Me

This work is personal. I grew up alongside challenges that many families know well but rarely discuss openly, and I experienced loss early in life.

Those experiences left a lasting impression. They shaped my belief that behind every statistic is a story, and behind every system must be a commitment to care. That belief continues to guide my efforts to strengthen mental-health systems and support people in the moments that matter most.

Leading for Impact

Elite sport taught me about pressure, preparation, and the narrow margins between success and failure. Leaving it taught me something else: performance without purpose is incomplete.

I stepped into executive leadership as President & CEO of the Alberta Mental Health Foundation, and now lead work at the Glenrose Hospital Foundation. I have built organizations, launched ventures, and navigated the intersection of business, psychology and public policy.

Bringing It All Together

From elite sport to executive leadership, I have spent much of my life studying performance. Excellence without wellbeing is fragile. The mind is powerful, but it must be anchored.

My work is grounded in research and disciplined practice. Yet transformation is ultimately relational. It happens when people feel seen, understood, and supported in doing difficult work.

The experiences that once felt heavy have become teachers. Today, they guide how I support individuals and organizations ready to grow with intention.
